Built tough, built to spec
Metal Buildings & Custom Projects
Custom steel buildings for workshops, storage, garages, and specialized structures, engineered and built to last.
When you need durable, flexible space, a custom metal building is hard to beat: tough, low maintenance, and ready to do whatever you need, from a backyard workshop to a commercial storage building. Terracotta Construction designs and builds custom steel structures across Montgomery County and the Greater Houston area, handling everything from the foundation to the finish details so the building serves you for decades.
Steel Built to Last in Texas
Steel buildings hold up to Texas weather in a way few structures can. They resist rot, pests, and fire, shrug off heat and storms, and need very little maintenance over their long life, which makes them one of the best values in construction for the space you get.
Just as important, they are endlessly flexible. The same quality steel shell can become a workshop, a garage, equipment storage, a barn, or a small commercial building, with the door sizes, clearances, insulation, and layout dialed in to exactly how you will use it.
We build to spec, not from a one-size catalog, so your building fits your property, your purpose, and your budget.
Workshops, Garages, and Hobby Spaces
For hobbyists, tradespeople, and homeowners who need real working space, we build steel workshops and garages with the roll-up and walk doors, ceiling height, lighting, ventilation, and electrical rough-in the work demands.
Whether you are setting up a woodshop, a home gym, a vehicle garage, or a space to run a business, we plan the building around the equipment and clearances you actually need, on a solid, properly drained foundation.
Storage and Equipment Buildings
Equipment, vehicles, inventory, and materials all last longer under a solid roof. We build secure steel storage buildings that protect what you own from Texas weather, with the access, drainage, and durable finishes that keep maintenance low.
From simple covered storage to fully enclosed, secured buildings, we size and finish the structure to match what you are protecting and how you need to get to it.
Custom and Agricultural Structures
Carports, barns, agricultural buildings, and small commercial structures all play to steel's strengths. We design and build one-off structures to your requirements, handling the dimensions, openings, and details that off-the-shelf kits cannot.
If you can describe how you will use the space, we can engineer and build a steel structure that fits the job and the site.
Foundation, Site Work, and the Details
A metal building is only as good as what it sits on and the details that finish it. We coordinate site prep and foundation work so the structure sits on solid, properly drained ground, then handle the framing, doors, and the finishing details that matter, drainage, ventilation, insulation, and electrical rough-in.
Getting these right up front is the difference between a building that simply stands and one that is comfortable, functional, and trouble-free to use for decades.
Why Montgomery County Chooses Terracotta for Metal Buildings
We are locally owned and operated, licensed and insured, and we manage the whole project, design, site work, foundation, and build, so you have one accountable partner instead of a kit and a list of subcontractors to coordinate.
Our pricing is transparent and put in writing, our components are quality, and our crews take pride in clean, square, lasting work. And because we offer the full range of property services, your building can be part of a larger project handled by one team.

Metal Buildings & Custom Projects FAQs
What kinds of metal buildings can you build? +
Workshops and hobby spaces, garages and carports, equipment and storage buildings, agricultural and pole barns, and small commercial structures, all sized and finished to your needs. Because we build to spec rather than from a one-size kit, we tailor the footprint, height, doors, and finishes to your property and how you will actually use the space.
Do you handle the foundation and site work too? +
Yes, and it is one of the most important parts of the job. We coordinate the site prep, grading, and foundation so the building sits on solid, properly drained ground. Most enclosed buildings get a formed and reinforced concrete slab sized for the load and our local clay soils, while some carports and ag buildings can sit on a slab or engineered ground anchors. We will tell you up front which approach fits your structure.
Can the building be insulated and finished as a usable space? +
Absolutely. We can insulate the walls and roof for temperature control and frame in doors, windows, lighting, ventilation, and electrical rough-in so the building works as a shop, garage, or work area. Tell us how you plan to use it and we will plan the finishes and openings accordingly from the start.
How long does a metal building take to complete? +
It depends on the size of the building, the foundation work involved, and material lead times. A simple carport goes up quickly, while a larger enclosed building with a poured slab takes longer because the concrete has to cure before the steel goes up. We give you a realistic schedule in writing as part of your estimate.
Will I need a permit? +
It depends on the type and size of the structure and the rules where you are located. Because we work throughout Montgomery County and the Greater Houston area, we are familiar with local requirements and will flag anything that applies to your project during the estimate, so there are no surprises later.
